Reflections of Summer
Updated: Nov 4
As days grow shorter (and busier!) and feeds are filled with smiling first-day-of-school pics, take a moment to savor these last sweet days of the season.
This summer was a big one for me, not only filled with painting, research and the logistical details for more Mountain Memories Exhibitions (currently showing through late September at Oregon State University), but also because it was the first in so many years that I actually felt able to slow down… Even in the midst of travels, responsibilities and major milestones, I relished the chance for special moments with friends and family like only the backdrop of Summer in the Midwest can bring.
Much of my recent work has celebrated these simple joys - often en plain air. If you are in the St. Louis area this Fall, you have an opportunity to catch my work at a solo show at the Longview Farm House Gallery in Town & Country, September 17 - October 15th. You are also warmly invited to a reception September 20th, 5-7 pm.
What a delight that even after the August heat, the beanfields and Ozark woods remain verdant green! As togetherness and summer schedules give way to the frantic pace of school and sports, however, the special joys of summer are already fading to sweet nostalgic memories.
May these hazy reflections of serenity warm you through the year!
